Spring fine art: the Charleston Renaissance

Our spring fine art sale offered ninety eight lots of American and European painting, with particular depth in the Charleston Renaissance and the Southern regionalists of the 1930s.

Alice Ravenel Huger Smith watercolours performed strongly throughout, and an Anna Heyward Taylor block print of a Lowcountry rice field set a record for the artist at auction. Eighty seven percent of lots sold, with a combined total well above the presale estimate.
