A single owner sale of works on paper assembled quietly over forty years by a collector who bought only what she could carry home on the train.
The result is an intimate group of drawings, etchings, and watercolours weighted toward the British and American schools, with a particularly strong showing of mid century printmakers. Nothing here is monumental. Much of it is exceptional.
Highlights include a rare early Hopper etching, three Ravilious wood engravings in pristine state, and a group of eleven unpublished Ben Nicholson pencil studies acquired directly from the artist's studio sale.
