Oil on academy board, signed lower left, depicting a walled garden with a wrought iron gate and climbing vine. American, circa 1925.
A modest picture in a modest frame, sold sensibly. Small oils of Charleston courtyards were produced in quantity for the tourist trade and the market distinguishes sharply between the good and the merely pretty. This one is good.
Condition: paint film stable, light surface grime. Board sound. Frame contemporary to the picture.
