Set of six coin silver julep cups

Tapering cylindrical form with moulded rims and bases, each engraved with an entwined monogram to the front. American, mid nineteenth century, bearing a Charleston retailer's mark.

Complete sets of six survive rarely. Most were broken up across generations or lost to the melting pot when silver prices climbed. Bidding reflected that scarcity rather than the weight, which is modest.

Condition: even tarnish throughout, undisturbed. Two cups with minor dents to the foot. Monograms crisp.
